Looking for jobs in traffic data collection?

From its offices in Carlisle, Cumbria, and Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, Northern Link is involved in many of the UK's most extensive traffic survey contracts for the Department for Transport and many local authorities, where Northern Link is the preferred video contractor and ad hoc automatic traffic counting contractor. We also carry out traffic surveys for many other local authorities throughout the UK.

We regret that we currently have no vacancies.

Video technician

Northern Link has extended their share of the UK video market and are keen to talk to potential video technicians who feel they may be able to provide a first class service in this area.

Training is simple and on average takes about an hour.  The first survey will be done as a trial to assess aptitude and suitability.  Work is carried out using the best digital video kit and there is no ladder work involved.  All equipment is fixed using high quality mast systems or from motorway and trunk road bridges.

Applicants must be available between April and September, excluding school holidays so this does suit parents who have non-term time care issues.  However, we are looking for flexible staff who are able to agree to a firm timetable, as, once a commitment to carry out a survey is made, there is little scope for re-arranging.

Applicants should hold a full UK driving licence and be fit and healthy with the use of a reliable vehicle.  Applicants should be comfortable with video and low level PC technology.  After surveys are completed technicians will be expected to complete simple paperwork, download the video files to hard drive storage (until requested to erase) and then burn to DVD disks to send to our clients.

Rates of pay are competitive and include an allowance for travel from home to survey and back. Where travel times are likely to be greater than 2-3 hours, hotel rooms will be provided if required; these will be Travelodge or similar standard.

Please send a very brief CV (no more than 1 page of A4) to Trevor Ford, Southern Area Director at tf@nltdc.co.uk. Please include a very brief covering note to convince us you have what we need to provide a first class service to our clients.
